I'm back

I've been quite sick, still working very hard and on top of that I've had computer issues that are still not fully resolved. I've had the computer completely wiped and I am reinstalling software.

During this time I've carried out something I've wanted to do for ages and that is start moving away from using microsoft software as it just isn't reliable enough and as a lot of my computer issues have been caused by said software. I have been using Mozilla firebird for quite a time because of the web standards issue, I have ditched Outlook for email (although I will miss the calendar and task side of things) in favour of Mozilla Thunderbird (they are working on a similar software as Outlook codenamed Lightning). I'm replacing the rest of office with openoffice which is a free software and after a trial I'll decide whether to keep and make a donation. One of the key tests is how compatible it is with office because most people use office and we have a lot of documents we will need to swap over.

The last step will be to eventually swap windows for linux.
Join the movement and we'll start a revolution - stop all unnecessary shopping.

ps - absolutely no training to report on and being without the computer for 2 days was great.

I have a cold, grumble, grumble

It was inevitable because both of the children have had one, so despite my valiant attempts to keep away from them I have it. And as always I trained well on the bike Thursday and well running and swimming Friday, Saturday my day off I started feeling yuck, Sunday it was a struggle and today I was a mucus highway.

Weekly training Mon 2 - Sun 8 June & I got poohed on

Starting to get back into this week. Punctured on the stationary trainer on Sunday after only 10 min(over inflated the tyre) I got off changed it and got on with the session would have beed easy to abandon it.

Very busy business wise juggling 2 of the larger jobs too date sometimes I think I must be mad learning on the job but if I had to pay to study I probably wouldn't have got sp far or been able to afford the cots. Learning on the job I get paid but it can be stressful at times. What I've learned this time is that for a larger ecommerce website I need to charge more.

We clipped the chickens wings yesterday and as I was holding the chickens one did a nervous pooh on me much to Emily's delight.

Because I've been on the computer a huge amount recently the arthritis in my right wrist is playing up.

Other things: I am going to try going swimming after I drop Cameron at Kindy, I am going to push my bike to kindy and then ride it to the pool, Swim Gym it is only a couple of kms away and the idea is it will save petrol because it is so much nearer then my other pool.

Thoughts on the way to swimming

I realised last night as I drove to swimming (Friday night swimming is for people with no life) that I have never considered myself a swimmer. I have always thought of myself as a cyclist and a runner. I wonder if it is because I have never really stoppped riding a bike since I learned to ride when I was 13 and because I took up running when I was about 19. I was and still am an ok runner and cyclist but I have never considered myself a good swimmer(because I wasn't).

I am really enjoying fist glove swimming I do believe it is working. I have had fastest run splits in a triathlon a top 3 cycle split but never anywhere near the top in swimming. Because when I asked myself why do I still go swimming I answered I want to have the best swim split in a triathlon, that is the dream.
